Makerere University holds second Community Advisory Board Meeting

Last 13 October 2023, Makerere University held a community advisory board meeting to update and get feedback on the Stool4TB implementation within the locality. During this meeting, the Ugandan Principal Investigator of the Stool4TB study, Dr. Willy Ssengooba, gave an update on the study to the Board, which are representatives of the community stakeholders. A fruitful discussion was had during which some feedback was given on the study activities and some useful recommendations to the study team were made.

The board has requested for an increase in the frequency of meetings between Makerere and themselves indicating that the meetings are seen as valuable to the community.

The meeting began with a short reintroduction of the Stool4TB Project and the specific milestones such as adult cohort recruitment. Notable is the completion of the adult cohort recruitment in 2022 while pediatric cohort recruitment stood at 60% and is still growing. Moving forward, Dr. Ssengooba hopes that the community board continues to support the project and to help clarify, at the community level, perceptions surrounding the project.
